Thai Ambassador to the UAE visited the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and the Emirate of Fujairah

            H.E. Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon, Thai Ambassador to the UAE led Embassy’s officials on a field trip to the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and the Emirate of Fujairah during 16 – 18 July 2010 to meet and visit certain prominent figures in the Emirates.

            In Ras Al khaimah, the Thai Ambassador met with Mr. Mohammed Hassan Al Shamsi, Director of Animal Health Department, Ministry of Environment and Water, and Chairman of Ras Al Khaimah Cooperative Society and Treasurer of UAE Cooperative Society who had enjoyed close relations with the Thai Embassy for many years, and discussed the possibility of expediting            the revocation process of the frozen chicken import ban from Thailand, considering that Mr. Al Shamsi is a member of the Committee governing  such matter. Moreover, the two sides exchanged views on expanding further cooperation between the Embassy and 83 Cooperative Societies in the UAE, for instance the importation of Thai fruits and vegetables for sale by the latter. Besides, the Ambassador had proposed a sale of 50 tons of parboiled rice which were still available at the warehouse in Dubai. In this regard, it was agreed by Mr. Al Shamsi to coordinate with the Cooperative Societies on purchasing the whole amount of Thai rice.

            In the Emirate of Fujairah, The Thai Ambassador paid a visit to Green Coast Nurseries and met with its owner, Mr. Ali M. Mohamed, who was also the Director of Finance of the Government of Fujairah. Green Coast Nurseries is the largest and most comprehensive date palm nursery in the UAE ranging from cultivation process to overseas exportation. Mr. Mohamed hoped that there would be more import of date palm from the UAE to Thailand in the future. On this occasion,  Mr. Mohamed offered a quantity of fresh and dried dates to the Ambassador to be presented to H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
